Good as Gold, South East to Myanmar

After completing more visa applications ( Thailand and India) back in Kathmandu I headed for the tourist town of Pokhara near the popular Annapurna sanctuary for a bit of R and R. It's a pretty lakeside town and less hectic than Kathmandu and a good place to put your feet up for a bit and enjoy some good food and accommodation for very little expense.

It's also a good starting point for a ride up into the Mustang area bordering Tibet. Unfortunately you need an expensive 500 us dollar permit to get right up high near the border but there is still lots of unbelievable riding before this and here I managed to find some great tracks up high in the Himalaya mountains.

One last visa (thank god) for Myanmar to collect in Kathmandu and then it was time to hit the road south east through Nepal and Eastern India to make the Myanmar border in time for the compulsory tour that is necessary to enter with a foreign vehicle. To keep costs as low as possible for this I teamed up in Kathmandu with fellow riders Johannes on a KTM 950 from Austria and Nora on a Suzuki 650 V Strom from the Netherlands. After an enjoyable 3 months in Nepal it was time to get some serious k's done.

Fantastic riding up high in the Mustang area

hearts and tears moto tours in Pokhara were super helpful and basically gave me there workshop to carry out some maintenance, new rear wheel bearings and clean air filter, and got to check out some more very cool Enfields!

Enjoying heading into the Mustang with Rohith from India on his Royal Enfield Bullet

Been a while since I found riding as good as this

It came to and end sooner than I'd hoped though, after spending a heap of time carefully negotiating a section of solid ice similar to this just back around the corner this one had too much grade and would have been impossible to get back up...the ride ended here

Base for a couple of nights...the town of Kagbenny

I meet Brigitte form Switzerland blasting about on a 250 Enduro, we had a great time together on the roads back out to Pokhara
