After completing more visa applications ( Thailand and India) back in Kathmandu I headed for the tourist town of Pokhara near the popular Annapurna sanctuary for a bit of R and R. It's a pretty lakeside town and less hectic than Kathmandu and a good place to put your feet up for a bit and enjoy some good food and accommodation for very little expense.
It's also a good starting point for a ride up into the Mustang area bordering Tibet. Unfortunately you need an expensive 500 us dollar permit to get right up high near the border but there is still lots of unbelievable riding before this and here I managed to find some great tracks up high in the Himalaya mountains.
One last visa (thank god) for Myanmar to collect in Kathmandu and then it was time to hit the road south east through Nepal and Eastern India to make the Myanmar border in time for the compulsory tour that is necessary to enter with a foreign vehicle. To keep costs as low as possible for this I teamed up in Kathmandu with fellow riders Johannes on a KTM 950 from Austria and Nora on a Suzuki 650 V Strom from the Netherlands. After an enjoyable 3 months in Nepal it was time to get some serious k's done.
